English Language Development

These classes help adult English learners build essential skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Students learn practical English for everyday life, work, and community participation. Courses are offered at multiple proficiency levels, from Basic through Intermediate High, allowing students to progress at their own pace while developing confidence and fluency.

Courses include:

  • Core English Basics
  • Core English Low Beginning
  • Core English High Beginning
  • Core English Intermediate Low
  • Core English Intermediate High

Year-long course: August – May
2 classes per week: Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday
morning 9-11am or evening 6:30-8pm
ongoing enrollment throughout the school year.

Registration: $50
Cost: $200 per course

 

Develop confidence speaking English in real-life situations. Students practice listening, speaking, pronunciation, and communication skills through interactive activities and discussions.

Courses include:

  • Conversation for Beginners
    • This course helps beginning English learners develop confidence in speaking and understanding English. Students practice everyday conversations, learn useful vocabulary and expressions, and improve listening skills through interactive activities, role-plays, and guided discussions.
  • Intermediate Conversation
    • Designed for learners with basic English proficiency, this course focuses on improving speaking fluency, listening comprehension, and communication skills. Students engage in discussions about everyday topics, current events, work situations, and community life while expanding vocabulary and increasing confidence in spoken English.
  • American English Pronunciation
    • This course helps learners improve the clarity and accuracy of their spoken English. Students practice American English sounds, stress patterns, rhythm, and intonation to enhance communication and listening comprehension. Activities focus on pronunciation in real-life situations and everyday conversations.

Prepare for employment and career advancement with courses that strengthen workplace communication and job-search skills. Students learn how to communicate professionally, prepare application materials, and succeed in interviews.

Courses include:

  • Conversations at Work
    • This workplace-focused course helps students communicate effectively in professional settings. Participants practice workplace vocabulary, common job-related conversations, customer service interactions, teamwork communication, problem-solving discussions, and professional etiquette needed for success in the American workplace.

  • Visual Information Skills for Work and Life
    • Develop the skills needed to understand and use visual information in everyday life, the workplace, and the community. Through practical activities, students learn how to read and interpret maps, tables, graphs, charts, diagrams, and scales. These skills help learners follow directions, understand workplace information, navigate community resources, and make informed decisions.

      This course is designed for adult English learners seeking to strengthen their workforce readiness and community integration skills.

  • Resume Writing Workshop
    • This workshop guides students through the process of creating a professional resume tailored to their skills and experience. Participants learn how to organize information, highlight strengths, describe work history, and prepare resumes that meet the expectations of U.S. employers.
  • Job Interview Workshop
    • Students learn strategies for successful job interviews, including answering common interview questions, discussing work experience, and demonstrating professionalism. The workshop includes mock interviews and feedback to help participants build confidence and improve their interview skills.

Learn essential money management skills for life in the United States. Students learn practical strategies for managing money, creating a budget, using banking services, understanding credit and loans, protecting against fraud, and planning for future financial goals. Through our partnership with Project Prosper, students develop the knowledge and confidence needed to make informed financial decisions and build a strong financial future.

Learn essential computer and technology skills needed for work, education, and everyday life. Students gain hands-on experience using computers, email, the internet, and common workplace applications.

Courses include:

  • Basic Computer Skills

This course introduces students to essential computer and digital literacy skills. Participants learn how to use computers, navigate the internet, create and manage documents, use email, and access online resources for education, employment, and daily life.

Prepare for the U.S. citizenship process while strengthening English skills and learning about American history, government, and civic responsibilities.

Courses include:

  • Citizenship Preparation
    • This course prepares eligible immigrants for the U.S. naturalization process. Students study U.S. history and government, practice speaking and reading skills needed for the citizenship interview and review the civics questions and procedures required for the naturalization test.
