ANN GRIFFIN - in loving memory

Founder, Board Member

Today, we remember and honor Ann Griffin, a visionary founder, dedicated board member, mentor, and friend whose impact will continue to be felt for generations.

In 1994, Ann, together with Sister Nora and Ed Griffin, founded Project Light of Manatee with a simple but powerful belief: that through education and English language learning, students could gain the confidence and skills needed to build brighter futures for themselves and their families.

For more than 30 years, Ann served as an invaluable leader and supporter of Project Light. She generously shared her wisdom, experience, and encouragement, helping to shape the organization into what it is today. Her unwavering support of the Executive Director, staff, and Board inspired countless individuals and strengthened our mission.

Ann’s positive spirit, sense of humor, kindness, and compassionate leadership helped create the supportive learning community that remains at the heart of Project Light. Her legacy lives on in the thousands of lives she touched and the opportunities she helped create.

We are deeply saddened by Ann’s passing in April 2026, but we are profoundly grateful for her extraordinary life, service, and dedication. She will be greatly missed and forever remembered.

Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with Ann’s family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Thank you, Ann, for your vision, your leadership, and your enduring belief in the power of education.

❤️ Forever in our hearts.

In 1994, Ann, Sister Nora, and her partner, Ed Griffin, established Project Light of Manatee, drawing on Ann’s background in teaching and technology. They believed that by mastering English, students would gain the confidence and skills necessary to fully participate as productive members of the community, thereby opening doors to a brighter future.

For over 30 years, Ann has been an invaluable asset to the Board, sharing best practices, experiences, and success stories. Her wisdom and intuitive leadership have inspired many, while her support for the school’s Executive Director and staff has been unwavering.
