Leadership and School Team

Elena Farkas

Executive Director
After moving to Bradenton from Alaska, Elena began volunteering as a Project Light Language School teacher. Her dedication caught the attention of the Board of Directors, who eventually hired her as the school program director. She later advanced to the position of Executive Director.

Elena, a native of the former USSR, obtained her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Magadan International Pedagogical University. She holds a B.A. and M.A. in English as a Second Language (ESL) and History. Her academic journey continued at the University of Alaska Anchorage, where she earned an M.A. in Educational Leadership.

During her three-decade tenure in the United States, Elena has had the privilege of working with exceptional educators and leaders. Their mentorship and collaboration have significantly contributed to her knowledge and leadership skills. One of Elena’s most significant achievements was establishing and coordinating the first in the U.S. public Russian K-12 immersion program, which has successfully graduated students for many years.

Despite receiving numerous awards for her dedication, Elena remains modest and continually seeks opportunities for personal and professional growth. She often attributes her success to her team, emphasizing that true leadership uplifts others as you progress. Elena’s leadership philosophy is rooted in the concept of servant leadership. She believes in walking alongside those she serves, guiding them toward their futures, and instilling in them the sense of purpose and drive that has shaped her life.
