While studying Spanish in Madrid, Spain, Pam learned about her future career from one of her professors. The professor strongly suggested that Pam focuses on teaching Spanish and English to other speakers of languages (ESOL), a relatively new field. She convinced Pam that
she should teach English to other language speakers instead of teaching Americans Spanish with a non-fluent accent.
The professor was correct. Few held a degree in teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). After teaching Spanish in Middle and High School for two years, Pam earned her MS in Theoretical Linguistics with Specialization in ESOL in Chicago, IL. Chicago was experiencing immigration from Vietnam, the USSR, Cambodia, Iraq, and Iran. Pam has photo experience teaching ESOL in elementary, middle, and high school. Additionally, she served as an Administrator/ESOL Specialist for Charlotte County and Manatee County Schools in Florida.
She is pleased to be retired and now serves on the Board of Directors for Project Light, a position she has held since 2020.
