Fr. Tom Bielawa, SDS was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. After studies at Catholic University in Washington, DC, he was ordained a priest in 1972 in the Society of the Divine Savior, also known as the Salvatorians. He remained in Washington working in parishes and teaching in a parish school.
In 1979 he went to Colombia, South America and was stationed there in several different parishes. When he returned to the United States, he continued to work with the Hispanic community in Arizona and Tennessee. Along with parish work, he was also the director of a boy’s camp in Maryland and the director of a foundation in Cali, Colombia which provided education and loans to independent workers. He retired from full time ministry and moved to Sarasota in 2009 and became a board member in November 2013.Back
