Welcome!

Project Light is a volunteer nonprofit dedicated to providing free adult English language and literacy instruction to empower students with the skills and tools they need to more fully participate in, and contribute to the community.

Providing adult education services in Manatee County, our aim is to equip students with the confidence and skills to access opportunities for job/career mobility, assist their children with academic achievement, better advocate for their families’ health needs, and help build a stronger, more vital community, overall.

Dear Friends,

The Board of Directors of Project Light thanks those of you who supported the 2015 Giving Challenge last year.  Because of your support and the generous matches from the Patterson Foundation, Project Light was able to raise over $6000 to provide our Adult English Learners a pathway to a better life.

We are thrilled to announce that we will again be part of the Giving Challenge this year on September 20-21, 2016.  This is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to participate in being a Project Light donor. If you are new to the Giving Challenge a bonus is that your gift will be matched.  The Patterson Foundation will provide a 2:1 match from new donors up to $100  (new donors are those who did not participate in the Giving Challenge last year) AND it will provide a 1:1 match for contributions from returning donors for donations up to $100.  The minimum gift amount is $25.

The Giving Challenge is from 12 noon on September 20 until 11:59 AM on September 21, 2016.   To donate, please visit

You can then make a secure donation with your credit card during the 24 hour period.

The 2016 Giving Challenge is presented by the Community Foundation of Sarasota County. In addition to the Patterson Foundation, there is support from The Manatee Community Foundation, John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, the William G. and Marie Selby Foundation and The Herald-Tribune Media Group.

Your support for Project Light will be greatly appreciated, thank you.   Please share this message with your friends and family so that they can be a part of the 2016 Giving Challenge.  SUPPORT PROJECT LIGHT AND BE THE ONE!

Sincerely,

Project Light Board of Directors
