Financial Acountability

Project Light has operated continuously for over 20 years. Except for a part-time Director, teachers and office workers are volunteers. The Board of Directors is a working board. The hard work and dedication of all of these people is the foundation of Project Light. Project Light is a unique, highly accessible language and literacy center with morning and evening classes for English language learners. Funding has always been an issue. There has always been a small corps of donors. Through the years funding has been obtained with grants, fundraisers, and new donors. In just this past year grants have been obtained to purchase books (so students don't have to pay for them), upgrade a very outdated website, and a general grant for administrative costs totaling approximately $14,000. Additionally a fund drive promoted Manatee Community Foundation (Giving Challenge) netted approximately $9300 including matching funds. Project Light continuously seeks new funding sources and donors.
